About Keith
Growing up in the pre-Revolutionary War town of Hummelstown, PA. I developed an appreciation for older houses at a young age but never imagined restoring them would become my profession. As a young man all I really wanted to be was a Formula One race car driver, which I pursued for several years after high school. Unfortunately, racing was not to be so I decided to go to university. But first I had to figure out how to pay for it, so I did what my father and grandfather had done before me and joined the Army. I became an intel analyst with the 2/20 th Special Forces Group of the MS National Guard, attending school full time. I graduated in 1995 with a journalism degree and moved to Florida a year later where I met my wife to be. We were married in 2001 and have produced three amazing children.
I first got involved in rehabbing in 2002 when we bought our second home and kept our first home as a rental. It needed some work, which I did myself, giving me the confidence to pursue other rentals and rehabs. In short order we sold some rehabbed rentals which led to flipping, and the rest is history. Or so we thought.
Turns out there was a little global economic meltdown around 2008. In Orlando the effect was brutal as many people we know lost everything. We had close calls, but we adapted by starting a company to prepare foreclosed houses for resale- a business called property preservation. We handled 3000 houses throughout Florida over an 18-month period, and eventually got back to flipping in 2010. Zombie houses were everywhere at the time- tall yards, boarded up windows, pool cages; we knew what to look for. As the Orlando real estate market came back to life so did our business.
In 2012 I picked up a monster historic zombie house and quickly realized I was in way over my head. It wasn’t the first time, as jumping in the deep end is almost a trademark of mine, but I worked my way through it and wound up winning the City of Orlando’s 2013 Historic Preservation Award for Best Preservation. I also won the award a second time, in 2017, for a house you may have seen on season two of our show Zombie House Flipping. It’s kind of full circle from where I started, with a little TV thrown in for good measure, and I can say honestly that I’ve enjoyed every bit of the ride.
Thanks for coming along.
